So I got a comment that I should write more about the university and San Diego and try to be more informative. Let me try and think about something I haven’t already told you guys about SDSU.
Alright, here goes.
SDSU is a America’s # 1 small research university. And I can truly vouch for it. I myself am in a small department (aerospace engineering) but the kind of research I am doing along with my professor is really amazing. We try to make the best of whatever research projects & funds available to the university.
Due to the budget cuts (which is a hard reality), the number of research projects have definitely gone down, but professors are still as enthusiastic about their specific fields of interest and still continue to encourage students to do good work.
Mandatory Furloughs have become a part of the schedules of almost all faculty and staff at SDSU. But to be honest, I don’t think this is really affecting the students in any big way, since the professors make sure that they put in the same effort to ensure that the students learn and perform well. Infact I think the only people being affected by these furloughs are only the professors since they have to take a cut in their pay.
All those who are applying to Grad school and are unable to afford expensive institutions, I would really recommend SDSU. When I had first applied, I didn’t really know much about this school but today I can assure you that if you are interested in doing good research work, SDSU can really help you.
Almost all departments have good contacts with the Industry and are well aware about the latest in their respective area of work. Hence the research projects taken up at SDSU are very relevant in terms of practical implementation in the industry.
Wait for my next post for more information
Thanks
